Bespoke Carpentry & Joinery in Surrey & South West London

From the first measurement to the final fit, your home should feel finished. Not almost finished.

With TOB Carpentry, you can expect everything to be:

Carefully Planned

Everything considered before the first cut is made.

Precision Fitted

Made to fit your home, not made to make do.

Built To Last

Quality workmanship you'll enjoy for years to come.

I have never really known how to do it any other way

My granddad was a carpenter, and I think that is where a lot of this comes from. Growing up around that kind of careful, considered work set a standard I have never really moved away from.

I hold NVQ Levels 2 and 3 in Carpentry and Joinery, have more than 14 years of experience across high-end residential projects and placed 2nd at the SkillBuild National Carpentry Finals.

But what that background really means, in practice, is that I know how to plan a job properly, handle the details carefully and deliver a finish that genuinely looks right.

That is what I set out to do when I started TOB Carpentry, based in Chessington, and it is still the standard I hold every project to.

Working With Homeowners, Interior Designers & Builders

Whether you are updating a single room, carrying out a full home renovation or working alongside an interior designer or main contractor, I fit seamlessly into the project and keep things moving smoothly.

I am used to working within occupied homes, coordinating around other trades and keeping disruption to a minimum. Clear communication, agreed schedules and tidy workmanship at every stage.

I can supply and install materials, or work with client-supplied materials where that suits the project better. Either way, you will know exactly what is included before work begins, with materials, labour and any key exclusions clearly explained.

Bespoke Carpentry & Joinery Services Across Surrey

Whether it is one room or a whole house, the approach stays the same.

From bespoke joinery and made to measure fitted furniture through to second fix carpentry and finishing details, here is everything I cover.

Internal & External Door Installation

Doors supplied and fitted properly, with new frames, linings and ironmongery all handled as part of the same job. Fitted carefully from the start, with proper attention to gaps, alignment and ironmongery.

Bespoke Bifold Doors & Room Dividers

Made to measure bifold doors and room dividers designed around the space, so the end result works exactly as it should and looks like it was always meant to be there.

Bespoke Fitted Wardrobes

Made to measure wardrobes that fit where standard furniture cannot, making proper use of alcoves, sloped ceilings and awkward corners without compromising on finish.

Wall Panelling

One of the most satisfying transformations in a home. Bespoke wall panelling designed around the room and fitted with tight joints and clean lines throughout.

Skirting Boards & Architraves

The finishing details that tie a room together. Fitted cleanly to the wall, mitred neatly at every corner and left ready for decorating.

Bespoke Alcove Units & Fitted Shelving

Built specifically for the space, alcove units and made to measure shelving turn an awkward recess into something genuinely useful without making the room feel smaller.

Second Fix Carpentry & Joinery

From a single room to a full renovation, all aspects of second fix carpentry handled carefully and finished to a standard you will notice for the right reasons.

The stuff you notice every day should be right

The small things are not small

A gap behind a skirting board. A door that catches on the frame. A corner that does not quite sit flush. Each one is a small thing on its own, but they add up quickly, and once you start noticing them you cannot stop.

I am meticulous about the details because that is exactly where the difference is. Not in the big gestures, but in whether the bespoke joinery and fitted carpentry you walk past every morning looks and works the way it should.

No surprises. No chasing. No mess left behind.

Every quote is detailed and clear before work starts. I stick to the schedule we agree on, keep you updated as things progress and always leave your home clean and tidy at the end of the day.

Clients regularly mention how straightforward the whole process feels. That matters to me as much as the finish does.

14 years. Lots of different projects. One standard.

I have spent more than 14 years working across high-end homes, workshop joinery, commercial fit-outs, TV studios and film sets. Different environments, different challenges, but the same expectation every time: the finish has to be right.

That experience means I know how to plan properly, spot problems before they become expensive ones and deliver bespoke carpentry work that looks like it belongs in your home.

" Tom completed bespoke alcove floating shelving, studwork and new door and frame installations for us. The quality of his work is excellent and everything was finished to a very high standard. He was professional, punctual and easy to deal with throughout. Would definitely recommend."
