One of the things I enjoy about wall panelling is how many different directions you can take it. The style really comes down to the room, the property and the look you are going for.
Shaker-Style Panelling
Clean, classic and works well in almost any room. Shaker-style wall panelling is one of the most popular choices for both modern and period properties. It sits comfortably alongside other fitted joinery and tends to age really well.
Tongue & Groove Panelling
A more traditional option with a strong visual texture. Tongue and groove works particularly well in older or character properties, though it can also be used to great effect in contemporary spaces when the style is kept minimal.
V-Groove & Flat Panel Designs
For something a little more bespoke, V-groove profiles and flat panel configurations offer a clean, contemporary finish. These work really well in living rooms, hallways and bedrooms where you want something that feels a bit different.
Half-Height & Full-Height Panelling
Panelling does not always have to run floor to ceiling. Half-height dado-style installations are a great way to add interest to a hallway or staircase without dominating the room. Full-height panelling makes more of a statement and works well as a feature wall.
The Detail Is Everything
Wall panelling is one of those jobs where the quality really shows in the details. The spacing between panels needs to be consistent. The mouldings need to be mitred cleanly. Anything that is slightly off, a gap that is a millimetre wider than the rest, a joint that does not quite sit flush, draws the eye straight to it.
I am meticulous about that stuff. It matters to me that when a client walks into the room afterwards, everything looks right. Not just good enough, right.
That is why I take my time with the planning before any fitting starts, and why I am quite efficient once I am on site, because everything has been thought through properly in advance.

I have been working in carpentry and joinery for more than 14 years, with experience ranging from high-end residential properties and traditional workshop joinery to TV studios, film sets and scenic construction.
That background has given me a really strong eye for what looks right, and what does not. Whether I am fitting wall panelling in a period property in Kingston or a contemporary home in Epsom, I bring the same care and precision to every project.
I hold NVQ Levels 2 & 3 in Carpentry & Joinery, and I came 2nd at the SkillBuild National Carpentry Finals. But what matters most to me is the standard of the finished job and that the client is happy with it.
